World markets steady amid recession fears

Investors are nervous about continuity of Russian gas supply via Europe's Nord Stream pipeline.

Tentative calm has returned to global markets, with the euro steadying after dropping to a two-decade low and oil back above $US100 a barrel following a near 10 per cent plunge a day earlier.
