But the chances of winning the top prize are just one in 134 million.

Up to half of Australian adults are expected to enter the draw which offers the equal fifth-biggest jackpot in Australian lottery history.

It comes just six weeks after a Bankstown dad pocketed the $100 million Powerball jackpot on June 22.

He became the second-biggest winner in Australian lottery history, surpassed only by a Sydney nurse who won more than $107 million in January 2019.

According to The Lott's recent annual winners report, more than half used the windfall to invest in the future, and 48 per cent put their takings towards paying off a mortgage or buying a new house.

But many people spread the jackpot around with seven people on average benefiting from each win.

The lottery sees seven numbers drawn from one barrel and one number from the Powerball barrel.

To win the jackpot the entry must match all eight numbers.

In the past five weeks there have been no division winners, meaning the prize has hit a $100 million jackpot.

So far in 2023 nine division one winners have collectively taken home more than $254 million in prize money.
