A magnitude 7.0 earthquake has struck the Vanuatu region in the south Pacific, the US Geological Survey says.

The undersea quake on Wednesday was at a depth of 10km below the earth's surface.
The US Tsunami Warning System did not issue an alert, and Australia's Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre said there was no tsunami threat.
