With only four weeks until federal childcare subsidies switch to a new system, about 35 per cent of Queensland families have not yet signed up.

Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham said he was not disappointed by the slow uptake but urged families to update their details as soon as possible.
About 750,000 families nationally have signed up out of a projected 1 million families accessing childcare support.
The $2.5 billion reformed childcare system launches on July 2, replacing the present dual payment of a childcare benefit and rebate, but families have been slow to complete the required paperwork online.
Nationally about 37 per cent of families still have not signed up to the new scheme, despite long-running campaigns by the federal education department warning people of the switch.
In New South Wales, 38 per cent of families are still to update their details.
"Australian parents really do need to act now, go online to MyGov or education.gov.au, register and update your details," Mr Birmingham said.
"It takes only about 10 minutes and it can give you all the information you need."
Families signing up to the new rebate must log on to Centrelink and provide information on the combined family income, the type of childcare service they use, and parents must meet the activity test.
The assessment will determine the funds each family is entitled to for childcare, paid directly to their childcare provider.
Senator Birmingham described the activity test required as a "light touch", requiring parents to be involved in paid work, self-employment, studying, paid parental leave or actively seeking work.
Using the activity test is designed to "encourage" parents back into the workforce, with a minimum of four hours of working, studying, seeking work, or volunteering required to access child care support.
Families who have not signed up by July 2 will roll into a three-month transition period, but Senator Birmingham said there could be "disruptions" to payments.
"It's more of a backpayment arrangement that exists after July," he said.
"[Families] really do need to act before July 2."
Federal figures state that families earning $50,000 with both parents working and two children under six in long day care three days a week would be about $2000 better off per year.
Federal opposition childcare spokeswoman Amanda Rishworth said last week it was "deeply concerning" not all families had signed up, and warned families in the lowest income brackets would see their benefits cut under the new system.
