The vicious assault that led to the 31-year-old's death remains unsolved.

A nearby resident found Leslie Patricia Larkin at 12.30am on November 9, 1984, in her Kareela Court unit at Kareela Avenue, Noosa Heads.

She had been seriously assaulted and died from her injuries the next day at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

On Wednesday police revealed they had fresh information about Ms Larkin’s death.

“The information provided to us is that Ms Larkin had experienced some distressing incidents in the weeks prior to her death,” Sunshine Coast district Detective Inspector Dave Drinnen said.

“We believe Ms Larkin confided in the people closest to her about these incidents.”

Inspector Drinnen described the case as a "horrific, callous homicide".

"Leslie Larkin was found located in her bedroom where she had been bludgeoned to death," he said.

Inspector Drinnen said Ms Larkin was vibrant and active, going to the gym, walking her brown and white boxer dog called Riff Raff and working at a restaurant.

"She would often be seen out walking the streets with her dog," he said.

"We knew she had been seeking employment in other restaurants at Noosa."

Inspector Drinnen asked anyone with information to come forward as the information could be crucial to solving the crime and to give answers to Ms Larkin’s family.

Fighting through her tears, Ms Larkin's mother Pat Lleiss was still distraught over the death of her daughter.

"It's very hard for me to think about Leslie," she said.

"She was so gentle, she was so beautiful, she was naive and she died such a terrible, terrifying death.

"It just makes absolutely no sense to anybody who knew Leslie, anybody that knew her could make no sense of it."

A state government reward of $250,000 remains for any information which led to the apprehension and conviction of the person or people responsible.
