A three-vehicle crash was affecting the Ipswich Motorway after a four-wheel drive, a ute and a sedan were involved in an accident about 6.15am.

Police said a vehicle might have lost control trying to take the ramp when its trailer became lose.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the man in the vehicle towing the trailer had fled the scene.

Paramedics took two patients to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, with one suffering chest injuries and the other head injuries.

Police were redirecting traffic while the scene was being cleared.

Australian Traffic Network spokesman Jay Lane said an earlier crash on Harcourt Road eastbound had cleared but had added to the congestion.

"There are really long delays eastbound from Gailes to Oxley and building as emergency services work to clear the scene," he said.

"The earlier crash at Harcourt Road has also caused heavy delays as a result so it might take a little while to slowly recover and get back to normal with peak hour beginning."

Mr Lane said he estimated about 30 minute delays in Darra while peak hour continued to cause delays in the "usual hot spots" across Brisbane.

"What is terrible about Darra is that unfortunately there just happened to be two crashes on practically the same road in the same suburb."
