A woman has escaped without serious injury after a number plate has smashed into her windscreen while driving on the Bruce Highway in Queensland.

Police said the Morayfield woman, 30, had a lucky escape on Tuesday after her vehicle was struck by a registration plate, which had detached iteself from a vehicle towing a trailer in front of her.
The registration plate became lodged through her windscreen directly in front of the driver’s side while she was driving on the highway at Burpengary, about 50 kilometres north of Brisbane.
Police said the woman was extremely lucky not to have suffered serious injury in this incident and received only minor cuts to her facial area from the windscreen glass.
Drivers were being urged to make sure all items on their vehicles were secured.
