The family of Lady Cilento is questioning whether the renaming of the hospital that bore her name was a fait accompli.

ASIC searches reveal the "Lady Cilento" and "Lady Cilento Children's Hospital" business names were deregistered on January 18.
That came six months before consultation was opened in July on whether to rename the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital the Queensland Children's Hospital, and eight months before the final decision was made in September.
However, authorities insisted the deregistration of the two business names was completely unrelated to the later decision to change the hospital's name.
The "Queensland Children's Hospital" was registered as a business name with ASIC on October 29.
The name change followed a campaign by doctors at the hospital who argued parents were confused about whether it was a public hospital.
Doctors also believed they would raise more money as the "Queensland Children's Hospital", and the Lady Cilento name was not recognised internationally when presenting research.
The hospital was named in honour of Phyllis Dorothy Cilento by the former LNP Newman government in 2013.
Lady Cilento was the only woman to graduate medicine in her class in 1919 and was an early advocate for family planning, having fathers at the birth of their children and research into vitamin D as a treatment for rickets.
Lady Cilento, who died in 1987, was also known as a columnist, for her research and as the inaugural president of the Queensland Medical Women's Society in 1929.
Her granddaughter, Giovanna Volpe-Cilento, said it did not make sense for the business name to be deregistered in January.
"It sounds to me that you may have made your mind up before you asked people what they wanted to do," she said.
"I think she's a hero and I think she deserves to be remembered as a hero, especially for women and children."
A spokeswoman for Health Minister Steven Miles said the hospital had always conducted its business under the name "Children's Health Queensland HHS".
"Almost all other hospitals in Queensland operate under the name of their respective hospital and health services instead of the individual hospital name," she said.
"When the hospital was first opened in 2014, "Lady Cilento Children's Hospital" was registered as a business name under the HHS entity.
"It was not cancelled, registration lapsed after ASIC's standard three-year registration period.
"Any suggestion this is linked to the potential for the hospital's name to change is untrue."
The spokeswoman said an advisor from Mr Miles' office first met with doctors from the Medical Staff Association in March this year, while Mr Miles first spoke with doctors about the issue in June.
"The minister was then presented with a petition with almost 900 staff signatures calling for the facility's name to change," she said.
"Significant public consultation and stakeholder engagement took place before the decision to change the name of the hospital was made.
"Any suggestion otherwise is untrue."
The spokeswoman said the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital name was still registered with the Australian Business Register for deductible gift purposes.
The Sunshine Coast University Hospital also has its business name registered.
However, lawyer and Gilbert and Tobin partner Michael Williams, who was acting for the Cilento family, said there were questions about why the two business names were allowed to lapse when they had been assiduously maintained since 2014.
"The family was never alerted to the fact that the name had been cancelled," he said.
