Bowen Hills could get a new shopping area, bridge and public park under a proposed amendment to the suburb's priority development area scheme.

State Development Minister Cameron Dick and member for McConnel Grace Grace have encouraged the community to share ideas on how to shape future development in Bowen Hills, with public consultation open.
The government last conducted community consultation for the Bowen Hills priority development area (PDA) in 2016, with the proposed amendment to the development scheme based on that feedback.
"We're now putting this forward and once again checking in with local residents and businesses to ensure we are on the right track," Ms Grace said.
"Development will be focused around local public transport stations, with street trees and sub-tropical urban design creating a unique, inviting environment in which to live and work."
Mr Dick said a network of walkways and cycleways would support active travel and new parks would encourage an outdoor lifestyle for Bowen Hills residents.
"Retail high streets, ground-level businesses and a lively entertainment district centred on Brisbane Showgrounds will further add to the vibrancy of the area," he said.
Potential amendments include a retail precinct along Mayne Road and Hudd Street; a bridge, intersection and pedestrian crossing linking Hudd Street and Abbotsford Road; and a park near the train station.
Building heights would remain capped at four storeys on medium-density residential zoned land along Cintra Road and eight storeys on high-density residential zoned land east of Abbotsford Road.
There would be continuing use of the Tivoli, the Old Museum and Brisbane Showgrounds as entertainment venues.
Precinct-wide plans include opportunities for food to be grown in private, communal or public spaces; car share facilities and ride-share access; and facilities to support charging of electric vehicles.
Land along Breakfast Creek, within 10 metres of the high water mark, would be provided as publicly accessible open space.
The Bowen Hills priority development area is about 108 hectares, bound by Bowen Bridge Road and Enoggera Creek to the west, the Mayne rail yards and Breakfast Creek to the north, Water Street and St Pauls Terrace to the south and Breakfast Creek, Cintra Road and Markwell Street to the east.
The draft development scheme amendment is open for public consultation until December 7.
Planners will be available on November 10 and 22 at Belise apartments to talk about the draft amendment.
The Bowen Hills PDA development scheme came into effect on July 3, 2009.
