The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate jumped to 6.3 per cent in October, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' latest labour force data.

At the same time, Australia's unemployment rate stayed at a six-year low of 5 per cent, seasonally adjusted.

Queensland had the highest unemployment rate in the nation in both trend (6.2 per cent) and seasonally adjusted (6.3 per cent) terms.

LNP Shadow Treasurer Tim Mander said Queensland was now the only state or territory to have an unemployment rate beginning with a "six", despite Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's wish to see it begin with a "five".

"Recently, Queensland has shared the cellar-dweller status with Western Australia, but now we are outright last and going further backwards," Mr Mander said.

"This is a sad indictment on the Palaszczuk government's ability to manage the economy.

"Despite employing tens of thousands of extra public servants, we still have the worst unemployment rate in the country."

LNP employment spokeswoman Fiona Simpson said there were now 165,291 unemployed Queenslanders on trend terms, an increase of 1227 in just one month.

However, Treasurer Jackie Trad said the data showed more people in Queensland were finding full-time work.

"Today's data shows that 2000 new full-time jobs were created in Queensland last month," she said.

"This means more people are finding secure, full-time work, bucking the trend that we have been seeing towards part-time and casual work.

"This stands in stark contrast to the record of the Newman LNP government who saw 10,000 full-time jobs lost on their watch."

Ms Trad said 26,400 jobs were created in Queensland over the past year.

During question time, Ms Palaszczuk said the government would continue to work with employers to grow small businesses and the resources sector.

"We know that the economy will sometimes go through its ups and downs," she said.
