The industrial action comes after months of negotiations, and two months after the last collective agreement for support staff in Queensland state schools ended.

Members of Queensland public service union Together, employed at state schools across the state, have voted for a four-hour state-wide strike on Monday.

Work bans, protests and strike action had occurred in individual schools over the two months before the decision.

The strike on Monday would involve support staff, including administrative staff, scientific officers, speech and occupational therapists and janitors.

Together union secretary Alex Scott said the members were the lowest-paid public sector workers.

"[They] are just seeking that the government bargain in good faith which means making an offer as part of the negotiation process and that offer must include a wage offer which will lift their wages above the minimum safety net of the award," he said.

"It is not acceptable that a Labor government should expect the lowest-paid public sector workers to be stuck on the award safety net when every other Queensland public sector worker has been offered collective agreements which raise their salaries above the award."

It was expected about 3000 staff would take part in Monday's strike.

The previous collective agreement expired on August 31.

Education Minister Grace Grace said she understood the Together union was claiming to its members that the government was offering a zero per cent wage increase in current bargaining negotiations.

"These claims are false and misleading," she said.

"In the current round of bargaining, the wage offer for all agreements, in line with current government's wages policy, is 2.5 per cent per annum over three years."

Ms Grace said the government would continue its consultative approach with the public sector workforce and bargain in good faith to negotiate new agreements with public sector unions and their members.

"Negotiations are ongoing and further meetings are scheduled," she said.

LNP leader Deb Frecklington said it was terrible when schools were affected by strikes.

"It's disappointing that the Palaszczuk government isn't doing more about fixing up the education system," she said.

"My heart goes out to any parents that are going to be affected by this."

State Development Minister Cameron Dick said the government would continue to negotiate in good faith with the union.

"They're entitled to represent their members but I'm sure the Minister for Industrial Relations [and Education Minister] Grace Grace and other ministers will be working very hard to resolve this as soon as we can," he said.
