"You can either throw in the towel and open the floodgates, or you keep chipping away and understand and accept the fact you might go for a few runs".

Weston Creek Molonglo opted for the latter, and a masterful display of reverse swing helped them secure a three-wicket win over Tuggeranong to secure a home Gallop Cup semi-final at Stirling Oval on Saturday.

The two sides will both feature in the semi-finals on January 27 and could meet again in the decider, but they'll have to wait a few months before that fixture graces Phillip Oval on February 24.

Creek will take bragging rights into the finals, but for a while it didn't seem like that would be the case.

"I was really proud of the lads and how they came back. Tuggeranong looked like they were probably going for 300-plus at the first drinks break but we pulled it back and the ball started to reverse," Rogers said.

"Our senior bowlers started to bowl really well with the reversing ball, and really knuckled down and swung it back in our favour. You’ve just got to hang in there.

"We had a couple of lucky breaks, the ball started to reverse which was a big thing. I haven’t seen it happen like that so instantaneously. One ball it didn’t, the next ball it did, and all of a sudden it was really hard to bat."

Then came Jono Dean's blistering 65 (57) at the top of the order in the midst of a 102-run stand with Josh Myburgh (35).

Rogers (45) says Dean "makes it look freakishly easy sometimes, and today was no different" as the former Adelaide Strikers batsman helped Creek to pass Tuggeranong's 219 inside 48 overs.

"I can’t remember there was a 100-run partnership at the top of the order with Weston Creek, so that’s fantastic. It’s a great platform to be laid," Rogers said.

"They bowled really well, their two trump cards [Shane Devoy and Jason Floros] bowled really well but luckily because of the start we were able to absorb a bit of pressure and get the job done in the end."

Ginninderra completed a comprehensive six-wicket win over ANU to end their one-day campaign on a high across town at ANU North Oval.

The Tigers cruised to 4-201 in just 35 overs after Amit Sharma blazed 61 from 56 balls before Mick Delaney (45 from 35) kept up the pace to give Ginninderra the points.

Meanwhile, umpire Terry Keel found himself in the middle of a guard of honour formed by Western District-UC and Eastlake in a classy display to mark his 400th game at the helm of a Cricket ACT premier match.

Cricket ACT's premier clubs will now turn their attention to the two-day Douglas Cup competition with the Twenty20 Cup to follow.
