On August 26, 2017, a fire broke out at the Civic Centre in Inala about 1.30am, destroying 12 businesses.
The original building housed a medical centre, chemist, optometrist, two pathology units, a tobacconist, restaurant, cafe, coffee shop, physiotherapist, giftware shop and solar energy consulting office.
The building was later demolished.
Now, more than a year after the fire, a development application has been submitted to Brisbane City Council for a four-storey building with use for shops, a food and drink outlet, healthcare services, a function facility and office to be built on the site.
The assessment report submitted as part of the development application proposed an "arcade-style walkway" through the middle of the building".
The proposed offices would be on level three while the function area would be on level four, along with a restaurant tenancy.
The council will assess the application.
