Police will start to fine motorists who use special Commonwealth Games lanes on the Gold Coast, as authorities insist public transport issues have been sorted out.

Transport Minister Mark Bailey acknowledged there were "very minor" transport woes following Saturday night's opening ceremony dress rehearsal on the Gold Coast.
"A few bus drivers weren't sure exactly where to stop, that's why you have a dress rehearsal to work that stuff out," he said.
"Some of the Uber drivers were a bit cheeky - getting in a bit too close.
"So we've now got some specific Uber stands where people can be dropped off."
Mr Bailey said minor issues were fine-tuned, and the second dress rehearsal on Monday night "went off very very smoothly", with about three-quarters of people involved in the event using public transport.
"We're very happy with where we are on the traffic front at this point as we ramp up to the opening ceremony tomorrow," he said.
Mr Bailey encouraged people heading to the Games to use public transport.
"It's free, use your ticket ... it's going to be the easiest and most reliable way to get to the Games," he said.
Police have issued warnings, but no tickets, for people incorrectly using special Games lanes since they came into effect on Good Friday, which are designed to get officials and athletes to events on time.
The lanes are on the Gold Coast Highway, Hooker Boulevard and Nerang-Broadbeach Road and Ross Street, but there are no Games lanes on the Pacific Motorway.
Mr Bailey said once the Games started on Wednesday, $252 fines would start to be issued for incorrectly using the lanes.
"People have been given a really good period of grace, there've been a lot of warnings issued, no fines to this point because we wanted people to get used to the Games lanes," he said.
"But of course once the real pressure happens and the Games begin, we cannot have anyone in those Games lanes who aren't carrying officials, who aren't carrying athletes, they're really critical to a successful Games."
Mr Bailey warned people to keep out of temporary no parking areas, and people must book ahead to use park and ride car parks via the journey planner.
"We're getting a lot of venues already booked up now," he said.
Mr Bailey confirmed the New Generation Rollingstock trains would continue to run during the Games, despite the Human Rights Commission rejecting an application for a temporary exemption to disability discrimination laws to fix issues including access to toilets for people in wheelchairs.
"The exemption issue was simply about making complaints, it wasn't ever about whether the trains would run or not," he said.
Mr Bailey said he was not aware of any complaints made about the trains.
The Commonwealth Games will be held from April 4 to 15.
