Hill is breathing down Vernon's neck after ticking off three wins in as many races in Sydney, having jumped from 13th to second in the standings after dominating the last leg in Townsville.
A second consecutive clean sweep means the 20-year-old is 90 points behind Vernon with six races remaining in the series.
Hill has now won five races in a row, and 10 in total in the Toyota 86 Racing Series – more than any other driver.
"Overall, it was another sensational weekend and very satisfying to keep the winning streak going," Hill said.
"I can't wait to head to the most famous race track in the country, Mount Panorama Bathurst, for the next round in October."
Hill can't afford to rest on his laurels because he still needs to be winning races to keep within striking distance of first place, but the landscape could change dramatically if Vernon has a bad round.
Mount Panorama is the next stop for Hill before he wraps up the series in Newcastle.
