Erin Maree Miller, 32, was enmeshed in an ongoing dispute with a woman over drug debts when she enlisted her friend, Harley Stott, to help her retrieve stolen jewellery from the buyer's Gowrie house.

Stott and several co-offenders allegedly drove past the house and fired numerous shots into the Dalziel Street property in the early hours of February 2, 2015. One of the bullets grazed the stomach of another woman inside at the time.

Police uncovered Miller's drug operation, through which she sold ice and cannabis from her Richardson home, that same month.

She was on bail for offences linked to the shooting when she hatched a plan with Stott to smuggle ice, cannabis and heroin to him in the Alexander Maconochie Centre, where he was locked up over the shooting, in June 2016.

During a visit to the prison, Corrective Services officers watched Miller take a package from between her legs and pass it to another male inmate, who slipped it inside his sleeve as they kissed and touched affectionately.

Under her bail conditions, Miller was banned from contacting the man as he had been inside the Gowrie house when it was sprayed with bullets. The package the pair exchanged was later found to contain ice.

Miller was arrested and remanded in custody after prison staff also saw her pass a Twisties chip packet, which had a mobile phone stashed inside it, to another detainee that same day.

She pleaded guilty to drug trafficking, drug supply, taking a banned item into the prison, giving false information to a public official and being an accessory after the fact to an act endangering life.

During an ACT Supreme Court sentence hearing on Wednesday, Miller's string of offences prompted Acting Justice David Robinson to observe: "There are some very poor decisions made by this offender. Very poor decisions."

But her defence lawyer, Peter Bevan, argued she had reached a crossroads, as Miller herself told the court she wanted to change her life.

"I owe it to myself to do something with my life, I owe it to my children," Miller said. "I'd like to find a career and not waste my life."

When asked why she trafficked drugs from the Richardson house where her two daughters lived, she admitted: "Honestly, I don't have an answer for that."

Mr Bevan said Miller was a drug user when she started selling the illicit substances, and had started using ice about the time she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Acting Justice Robinson said Miller's decision to meet up with the inmate she was banned from seeing was "another unfortunate choice".

He said: "People make unfortunate choices and she's made..."

"Quite a few," Mr Bevan replied.

Miller's mother cried as she told the court of her disappointment when she received a phone call to say her daughter had been arrested for drug offences.

"I think she knows she stuffed up. She's apologised for what she's done. She knows she's made a mistake.

"She wants to go back to school. She knows she has to make amends to a lot of people, mostly her children."

Prosecutor Anthony Williamson described Miller as a mid-level drug dealer who was "extraordinarily brazen" in the way she ran the "continuous, ongoing enterprise" from her home.

He accepted Miller wasn't present at the time of the Gowrie shooting and didn't procure the offence, but said: "She was, nonetheless, a key feature in the narrative of the shooting."

Acting Justice Robinson reserved his decision. Stott is set to face court on Thursday.
