The Easter Bunny partnered up with several Canberra and Snowy Mountains institutions to provide egg-hunting entertainment for thousands of children.
The fun started early at the Yarralumla Play Station, which ran an Easter egg hunt on Saturday and will hold a second on Sunday morning.
Egg hunters were given a Cadbury goodie bag, a train ride and the opportunity to find "special eggs" with extra prizes inside.
Meanwhile, the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House will provide a chocolate-flavoured history lesson at the "Great Easter Egg Trail" from 9am to 12pm.
Last year's event attracted more than 9400 people to the hunt through the former corridors of power, with new trails selected for 2017's event.
About 15,000 eggs were shipped in especially for the hunt, the greatest number in the history of the event, and scattered throughout the building to teach children about democracy, the parliamentary system and Canberra's history.
For those after an extra challenge and a weekend mountain hike, Thredbo will be the place to travel to on Sunday morning to make it to the $10,000 "Golden Easter Egg Hunt".
Visitors who ride the chairlift to the top of the mountain will search for a golden Lindt bunny with a $10,000 prize attached.
A jackpot egg worth $5000 and five other golden eggs worth $1000 each will also be up for grabs for alpine sleuths.
For those who want to stay closer to sea level, the Thredbo village green will host a kids Easter egg hunt, with 5000 chocolate eggs scattered around the grounds.
Corin Forest will continue to host egg hunts on Sunday and Monday, while Rodney's Plants Plus at Pialligo will also be held from 10.30am on Easter Sunday for 100 participants.
