The Vikings finished second on the competition table on 35 points behind minor premiers Brisbane City (38), with the Rising (20) edging out the Sydney Stars (20) for third place with a superior for and against.
The Vikings will be hoping for a repeat of the last time they faced the Rising when they cruised home to a 42-16 victory on October 2 in Canberra.
Former Brumbies winger Francis Fainifo scored two tries in that game, while captain Jarrad Butler also got across the line through a rolling maul.
The Vikings warmed up for the finals with an easy 42-8 victory against Queensland Country on the Sunshine Coast last Thursday night.
Brumbies backs James Dargaville and Lausii Taliaulii were among the try-scorers as the Vikings rested a number of players.
The Rising claimed third place with a 18-10 win against the Stars on Sunday.
The match kicks off at 7.30pm on Friday and will be shown live on Fox Sports 502.
In the other semi-final, Brisbane City will host the Sydney Stars at Ballymore on Saturday night.
