Even by the standards of contemporary public administration, a book concentrating on the chief of staff position in prime ministers' offices may seem a little compressed. The topic, however, is worthy and it's been tackled by professors R. A. W. Rhodes and Anne Tiernan in a book titled The Gatekeepers. It's not a good tackle.
