With Joe Ofahengaue nursing a nasty gash just below his right knee and Jai Arrow injuring his left ankle during the Titans' 24-20 loss to the Warriors on Friday night, Walters was forced to find some fresh legs to inject into a pack which dominated NSW in the series opener.

Tim Glasby won the race for one of the bench spots made available and Jarrod Wallace beat Christian Welch in a close race for the other spot on Walters' bench.

Welch, Edrick Lee and Corey Norman have all been named in a 20-man squad which will travel to Perth for Origin II.

The loss of Arrow means Dylan Napa has been promoted to the starting pack, a role he played in all three matches last year.

Walters' decision to otherwise stick solid with the players who did the job required in the series opener at Suncorp Stadium is in direct contrast to their opponents on Sunday.

While Walters is picking and sticking, NSW coach Brad Fittler has made seven personnel changes to the team which dropped the series opener in Brisbane.

This will be the third time Glasby has been called into the Maroons squad after the series opener.

It will also be his fourth game for Queensland.

Wallace will play his sixth game in the maroon jersey, having been dropped by Walters for the first match of the series after playing all three matches this time last year.

"He was hurting about missing out on Origin and I think his form over the last few weeks has probably shown that," Wallace's coach Garth Brennan said last week.

"You see so many players drop their lip and sulk and go the other way when they have some disappointment but Wal's not that. He handles adversity really well. I've never seen a player with things going on, outside noise, to be able to block it out and put in a performance like he does."

This is the second time Welch has narrowly missed out on selection on the Maroons' bench.

The rising Storm star has been part of Emerging Maroons camp since 2017 and was the 19th man for the Queensland team which dropped Origin II this time last year.

He was considered a near certainty of earning a spot on the bench before suffering a knee injury which ruled him out of Origin I.
