Canberra won bronze by toppling the University of Sydney 12-10 in the third-place playoff on the Gold Coast.
The win lifts Canberra to sixth on the overall table - trailing fourth-placed Sydney by two points - at the halfway mark of the four-round series.
Griffith University claimed gold with a 21-7 win over the University of Queensland in the final.
Round three takes place in Adelaide on October 12 with Queensland looking to extend their lead atop the table.
