Although whether the game goes ahead will be determined by how hot the AIS gets.

The Capitals will turn to their fans as they face a tough road trip - despite also playing at home.

They travel to Bendigo to face the Spirit on Friday night before returning to host the Perth Lynx on Sunday.

Canberra were too good for the Lynx last weekend, thrashing them 76-59 in Perth.

They packed 4817 into AIS Arena when they ended their championship drought to claim their eighth title in February.

With more Canberrans remaining in the capital than usual - due to the bushfires down the coast - they'll be looking for something to do on the weekend.

Goriss hoped it would be to watch them play.

"The more crowd that we get there the more hyped the girls get," he said.

"Hopefully on the back of the grand final series and playing there already this season we can get a good turn out because we need that.

"It really gets the girls going. The bigger the crowd I think they play to a bigger occasion.

"So hopefully we can get a good crowd there behind because it is a game that has play-off repercussions for both teams."

Although they will need to prepare for a hot AIS Arena.

The current forecast is for 34 on Sunday after Saturday's scorching hot 42.

AIS Arena's normally a few degrees cooler.

The WNBL heat policy states if the temperature inside the stadium exceeds 35 degrees then there are extra timeouts and the breaks between quarters are extended.

If it gets hotter than 38 then the referees can call the game off, in consultation with Basketball Australia senior operations manager Mark Quinn.

"I know the semi-final last year was 41 degrees outside and it only got to 30 or 31 inside the stadium," Quinn said.

"It's up to the referees to say because they're the ones running the whole game - they can initiate the heat policy.

"Fingers crossed it doesn't get too hot.

"It's not the thing that we get every year, but with the temperature rising every year I think we're going to eventually get there where we're going to have a game that's going to be cancelled because of the heat.

"We've also got to be mindful in Canberra of the smog from the fires is quite extreme."
