In parliament last week Mr McCurdy called on the state government to act on the growing number of wild dogs impacting farmers.
"Wild dogs are again baring their teeth to the farming community in the Ovens Valley," he said.
"The Victorian government has dropped the ball on all things rural and while they argue in court on wanting to shoot brumbies in the high country, which I strongly oppose, wild dogs are breeding out of control."
Mr McCurdy said places including Carboor, Buffalo River, Everton and other farming communities "need more control measures in place".
"Trappers are dwindling while wild dog numbers grow," he said.
The Victorian Fox and Wild Dog Bounty was suspended on March 30 due to the coronavirus but hunting was allowed again across the state on May 13.
