The duo had nothing to lose when they sent their highlights packages through to Canberra United coach Vicki Linton - and it proved to be a stroke of genius.
Clearly impressed with what she saw, Linton wasted no time in signing the exciting duo for the upcoming A-League Women season.
Karrys-Stahl and Vidmar, the daughter of Socceroos legend Tony Vidmar, both spent time in the Canberra United Academy growing up but seemingly slipped through the cracks and found themselves playing at the NPL level in Sydney and Adelaide, respectively.
Their return to the capital is quite remarkable given it's come off the back of the sporting equivalent of a mixtape.
"I reached out to Vicki and sent her through some highlights," said Karrys-Stahl.
"She gave me a call and we spoke on the phone once.
"Not too long after I received another call and she offered me a position at Canberra United."
It was a similar story for Vidmar, who sent through some highlights of her own.
"Vicki just saw some footage and got in contact and asked me to send some more footage," said Vidmar.
"That's basically how I got the contract."
The YouTube videos are good. Really good.
Karrys-Stahl's highlight reel starts with a one-touch give-and-go before taking the ball first time and finishing from the edge of the box.
The 21-year-old plays as an attacking midfielder, is able to beat defenders at will and can shoot from anywhere.
Mikayla Vidmar's highlight reel starts with a cracking strike from distance also.
The 19-year-old can play at right back or on the wing and is set to add creativity to United's line-up with her incisive passing and pinpoint balls into the box.
While both may need to bide their time before creating a Canberra United highlight reel, it's sure to be exciting when the tape starts rolling.
