With both the government and the opposition nodding their support, an inquiry seems likely into the Reserve Bank's conduct of monetary policy over the past decade or two. I was a member of the RBA board from 2011 to 2016, so I guess I will have to take my share of the blame for whatever shortcomings it might find. But before we look at the criticisms of the RBA, it's worth considering a few points about what has happened since I left.
