Producers Rodney Rigby and Junkyard Dog announced on Friday evening that the Canberra season of the Broadway-hit musical would be postponed due to the ongoing uncertainty and fast moving number of Omicron COVID cases.
Originally set to open for a month from February 3, the Canberra season will now open in June 2023.
"It is incredibly disappointing to postpone the Canberra season of Come From Away," producer Rodney Rigby said.
"Sadly, the effects of the Omicron COVID variant are causing havoc in the live entertainment industry, with all major musicals across Australia suffering considerable disruptions in recent weeks.
"Canberrans deserve to witness this remarkable production, free from the distractions of COVID, and we apologise to the many ticket holders inconvenienced by the postponement."

This is the second time the musical has been postponed due to COVID, with the musical originally set to open at the Canberra Theatre last October.
When tickets were released in July, it broke the Canberra Theatre's record highest-selling musical in its first week of ticket sales.
Existing ticket holders to the Canberra season will be contacted in the coming weeks.
Come From Away will place its current Australian tour on hiatus after the final performance in Sydney on January 30.
The national tour will recommence in July 2022, with dates to be announced soon. The production will then make its way back to Canberra in the middle of next year.
Come From Away is based on the real-life events in the wake of the September 11 tragedy. Set in Gander, Newfoundland where 38 planes carrying almost 7000 people from more than 100 countries were redirected during this traumatic event, almost doubling the population of the remote Canadian town.
The musical captures the generosity and hospitality of the small community of Gander who invited the "come from aways" into their homes, it is an inspirational story of hope and humanity.
