Such is the belief Wane has in the professionalism and class of 22-year-old Farnworth, who has been out of action since suffering torn biceps in the NRL round 14 win over Canberra on June 11.

Farnworth, who was born in England and grew up in the small Lancashire town of Blacko, was in great form for Brisbane before that as he helped catapult the side to fourth on the ladder.

Wane was watching from afar. While disappointed Farnworth had not made it back on the paddock, he said that was no impediment to him joining the England squad for the international tournament on home soil later this year.

"I will have no qualms with Herbie joining us for the World Cup. I can't wait to coach him," Wane told AAP.

"While his injury was serious I know that Herbie is an absolute professional and looks after himself so well.

"I met with him in Australia at the Magic Round weekend (in May) and was really impressed with his maturity.

"He showed me around the Brisbane set-up and it was ultra-professional. I know he is getting the best possible treatment."

As a player, Wane said Farnworth was "all class" and had earned his respect after playing in Australia in his teens to earn an NRL contract at the Broncos.

"I like the way he does all the fundamentals well. He has good technique and he's so strong as a centre," Wane said.

"What I really like is that he had the guts to go to Australia as a young kid, tough it out and go on to shine at Brisbane."

Farnworth had wanted to be back for the final two rounds of the regular NRL season. If the Broncos make it to the finals, now unlikely, he could be right for the first week of the semis.

Farnworth's uncle Brian Foley, a former Wigan recruiter and development coach, said his nephew had been desperate to get back on the park.

"Herbie's biceps is not fully healed. It is healed enough, but not quite enough to play in the NRL competition," Foley told AAP.

"He thought he was going to make it for the final round game against St George (Illawarra) but I spoke to him and it wasn't worth the risk.

"He is very upset. He wanted to play with it, but Herbie is Herbie.

"When he was 17 he broke his hand playing for Norths Devils. He wanted to carry on playing and had to be talked out of it. He had surgery and was out for nine weeks."

Foley, who trained Farnworth when he was a lad in Lancashire using six training poles on a village green, said his nephew would not let Wane down if picked..

England, the hosts, will open the tournament against Samoa on October 15 at St James' Park, Newcastle.

"There will be no lad better prepared than Herbie for the World Cup, and I know that from the bottom of my heart," Foley said.

"Herbie will come back wiser, stronger and quicker. He will be re-energised. This is a period of his career where he can really take stock."
