Police say the plane came down on a property at Mulyungarie, near the NSW border, on Wednesday evening.
The 47-year-old pilot was the only person on board.
He was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Recreational Aviation Australia, the peak body responsible for administering ultralight, recreational and light sport aircraft, has been notified about the crash.
