It looks like there is more of this glorious, crisp winter weather on the way. The forecast for Thursday is mostly sunny, although winds will pick up later in the day. The forecast high is 17 degrees after an overnight low of 3 degrees.
Here's the news.
Prominent developers win public housing tenders
Stockland and Doma Group have joined forces to win a $50 million tender bid for the controversial redevelopment of the Red Hill public housing precinct.
The Red Hill Precinct estate development plan would see up to 252 new homes built.
While residents supported building more public housing on the site, the government decided to sell it for redevelopment, with the last of the residents relocated mid-2017 and demolition completed last month.
'Flawed' pokies scheme will undergo community consultation
A controversial government gambling scheme will be put under the microscope during community consultations starting next week.
ACT clubs are legally required to give 8 per cent of poker machine profits to community groups.
However, the “community contributions” scheme has been heavily criticised, with one researcher describing the way payments were dished out as deeply flawed, opaque and misleading.
Mr Ramsay said the ACT government would consult with both the community and Canberra’s clubs as it considered changes to the scheme.
Couple's lucky escape as car smashes through house
Newlyweds Colin Tucker and Catia Ochi were fast asleep before a terrible bang woke them in the dead of night.
At 4.38am on Wednesday, a Maroon Ford Falcon careened across a neighbour's yard before smashing into Mr Tucker's office, which is in a room at the front of the couple's house on Deamer Crescent in Richardson.
"I thought a bomb had gone off," Mr Tucker said.
Sir John Monash immortalised as one of Australia's greatest
Few have had the same aptitude for battle as General Sir John Monash, yet the man regarded as one of Australia's greatest ever military commanders hated war.
"He despised its horror [and] the inefficiency, which he described as ghastly, the impossible cruelty and the misery of war," Australian War Memorial director Dr Brendan Nelson said.
Sir John is just the third person to be honoured with a sculpture at the war memorial, joining stretcher bearer John Simpson Kirkpatrick and Sir Edward "Weary" Dunlop.
Raiders halves combo eye winning audition for 2019
It would be his longest run in the NRL for six years, but Canberra Raiders half Sam Williams has the rest of the season to stake his claim for 2019.
Williams and Aidan Sezer are the only two recognised halves currently contracted to the Raiders for next season, with Blake Austin unlikely to be with the Green Machine in 2019 and Ata Hingano considering whether to take up an option in his favour.
It means Williams has the chance to stake his claims to partner Sezer in the halves next season, with Canberra yet to find a replacement for Austin.
David Polkinghorne has the story.
