Chelsea Agno: My Canberra

Hidden gem? Canberra's hidden gem would definitely be Sancho's Dirty Laundry in Garema Place. It's the best place to shop for art supplies, clothing, accessories and cool stuff! It's definitely my favourite place in Canberra and its run by Sancho who inspires me a lot. Sancho is always working hard to make this city a fun place for young people; she does it for the kids and not for the cash.

Favourite weekend haunt? The best thing for me to do on the weekend is relax. I usually hang out with family and friends or seclude myself in my working space to watch cartoons and draw. When that happens I am in my pyjamas all day – its really great. When I do leave the house it's to get some good eats, best place for that would definitely be Lolo and Lola at Westside. They do amazing Filipino food and the owners are so friendly.

Best place to take visitors? Probably the walk-in bird aviary at Gold Creek, it's an interesting experience to see how people react. The birds at the walk-in aviary are really funny and you get to feed them apples and worms. There's also a really good café across the road called Café Injoy – it has generous servings and is very tasty.

People-watching spot? Absolutely anywhere. I'm a bit of a weirdo so I have no specific spot; I just put on my sunglasses and have a peek. Sometimes I forget to put on my sunglasses and just stare at people unintentionally.

Where do you go to unwind? The best thing for me is to do is hike up Mount Taylor or spend time alone anywhere naturey.

What do you do for a treat? Go to Sydney or Melbourne! But when I'm in Canberra I like to hang out with my best friend, watch movies at Palace Electric and eat ice cream at Frugii.
