Call it music in the moonlight, or singing under the stars, or tunes at twilight. Musical theatre star Marina Prior will accompanied by The Canberra Wind Symphony in an outdoor concert at Braidwood.

More specifically, Prior will be singing at Mona Farm, a property with award-winning gardens and contemporary sculpture installations.

The concert will conclude with a fireworks display.

"I think it's a beautiful idea," the singer said.

"I love to do these sorts of concerts that are outdoors - they give you the best Australian-style stage environment."

She says it's a completely different atmosphere to a theatre or recital hall - "it's relaxed, very Australia... I'm lucky enough to get the opportunity to do quite a lot of these. I do love that sort of thing."

Prior says being in the grounds of Mona Farm and singing to the unusual accompaniment of The Canberra Wind Symphony will contribute to an immersive artistic experience.

She will perform musical theatre songs - "the real classics" she says - including I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables, Somewhere from West Side Story and Send In the Clowns from A Little Night Music, as well as popera favourites like Time To Say Goodbye.

She's expecting it to be sunny when she starts so she will be sure to take sunglasses (she hasn't always remembered and says if she doesn't, "I get completely blinded").

Prior says she will be wearing "a beautiful ball gown" for the performance.

She will be touring until July and then will prepare for a theatre production in Melbourne (she can't say what it is yet).

"Then I'll collapse."
