Brisbane mates Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett founded Australia's first mobile washing service for the homeless in 2014 and went on to be named the Young Australians of the Year in 2016.
The Canberra and Queanbeyan chapters launched in April 2016, made a reality by the generosity of volunteers.
And a lot of washing powder.
Orange Sky Laundry Canberra manager Noreen Vu said since the service started in the national capital, it had completed more than 2600 washes for those in need.
Noreen said the van also provided showers for those sleeping rough.
"Orange Sky Australia in Canberra and Queanbeyan has 84 rostered volunteers on per fortnight,'' she said.
"We operate 12 services across Canberra and Queanbeyan.
"Our services are concentrated in Civic, however we also go out to St Benedict's in Queanbeyan, the Aboriginal Tent Embassy and the Tuggeranong Walk in Centre.''
The Canberra service also has a new and bigger van, nicknamed Frosty.
The local service recently won the innovation section of the 2017 Volunteering Awards for the Canberra region, using technology and knowledge to enrich the community.
