Steven Thomas Edwards, 29, of Calwell, did not apply for bail when he appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with six offences including aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.
The court heard the charges related to a knifepoint robbery at a Wanniassa fast food outlet in 2010 where $1500 was stolen, and the theft of $1500 from gaming machines during a break in at a Lanyon club in December.
Special Magistrate Margaret Hunter remanded Edwards in custody to reappear for an application for bail next week.
An ACT Policing press release, from Friday morning, said Edwards had been arrested as part of investigations through Operation Athabasca.
Police said officers from Operation Athabasca have linked 14 aggravated robberies and burglaries that took place between 2009 and 2018 at licensed clubs and fast food restaurants across the ACT.
Police allege Edwards was involved in two of the offences.
His arrest followed Thursday's announcement that police had charged a 25-year-old man with 22 offences.
The 25-year-old is scheduled to face court on September 26 on charges including attempted murder, forcible confinement and aggravated robbery in relation to the string of crimes, in which more than $385,000 was allegedly stolen.
On Friday morning, Detective Station Sergeant Harry Hains said the arrests were a good result, but just the beginning for officers working on Operation Athabasca.
“The operation remains ongoing and ACT Policing’s crime disruption team are investigating a number of leads,” he said.
