A bush fire has closed camping hot spots on the south coast ahead of the Canberra Day long weekend.

If you are heading to the coast for your long weekend, expect smoke and hazy skies in the Shoalhaven area as the fire in the Meroo National Park is controlled.
The Termeil Point, Sunburnt Beach, Blackbutt Roads, Meroo Point Road and Meroo Head camp grounds are closed due to the fire south of Ulladulla.
Firefighters from National Parks and Wildlife Services and the NSW Rural Fire Service, along with water bombing helicopters, are battling the blaze, which is not threatening properties and is at advice level.
The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District have warned people with breathing difficulties to stay indoors and avoid outdoor exercise.
