The award-winning local brewery is brewing a beer with 23 chillies and heritage grains to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the festival. Named the Blazing Saddle, the beer will be available from February 15.

Head brewer and co-owner Richard Watkins said chillies were an important part of so many cultures, so it was an easy decision for Bentspoke them to use them as a feature of this special event beer.

"We’ve really tried to keep true to the think local, act global ethos, sourcing locally produced grains from within Australia but with multicultural heritage such as Ethiopian purple barley, Tibetan black barley and veloria malt. We’ve also sourced a wide variety of chillies from South America, Europe, Asia and Australia,” he said.

Tracy Margrain, brewer and co-owner, said Australia was lucky enough to have such a vibrant multicultural heritage, which they wanted to showcase.

"Rich and I have fond memories of wandering the alleys of tents during the festival, trying out new food from passionate people who love and are proud of their culture.”

Brewed on-premise in Braddon, Blazing Saddle will be available at BentSpoke’s National Multicultural Festival stall, its Braddon brewpub and the King O Malley's, until sold out.
