A union boss asked for an external consultant to be involved in an industrial dispute more than a year before he was given a government board job.

Earlier this year, it was revealed Electrical Trade Union boss Peter Simpson forwarded Mark Algie's resume to the private email address of former energy minister Mark Bailey, who sent it to his chief of staff.
Mr Algie was then appointed to the board of Energy Queensland in October 2016.
A Right to Information request reveals Mr Simpson had emailed Mr Bailey's private email address, mangocube6@yahoo.co.uk, on January 14, 2016, lobbying for Mr Algie to be involved in the merger of Ergon and Energex into Energy Queensland.
"You'd remember the paper I handed to you when we first met in your new office early that morning in February, I flagged this exact concern and asked for an external consultant by the name of Mark Algie, Ex Ergon Energy, to be involved in this space to save us all a lot of grief," Mr Simpson wrote.
The emails, the latest to be released under RTI, show union officials' anger over the process.
"We are heading into shitfight territory already and it's only the twelfth day of the New Year," Mr Simpson wrote.
Energy Minister Anthony Lynham previously said Mr Algie was subject to normal board-appointed selection processes, including the endorsement of cabinet.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk also previously said she did not know whether the person whose resume was forwarded got the job, and she did not know their name because it was redacted in an RTI.
Mr Bailey was last year under fire for his use of a private email account, which he deleted.
However, the Crime and Corruption Commission confirmed it would not prosecute Mr Bailey for his use of the email account and deletion of public records because they were able to be recovered.
A CCC review of hundreds of Mr Bailey's private emails cleared him of corrupt conduct.
