Local real estate firm Ian McNamee and Partners are so far the biggest fundraising team in Australia ahead of the walk around Lake Burley Griffin on Sunday, May 20.
The agency - which is based in Queanbeyan but does have a presence in Canberra - is the leading team fundraisers in Australia, with just over $7000 raised so far.
Added to that, managing director Shane McNamee is No.2 in the individual fundraisers in Australia, with a donation of more than $3200.
Shane said staff at the agency fundraised through their friends and social media networks and the company matched their donation.
"We've got a lot of pet owners in our company and we've got a social committee and they wanted to support a cause and this was a popular one,'' he said.
Shane intends to participate in the walk, taking along the family's four-year-old groodle, Leo.
The Million Paws Walk starts on May 20 at 11am from the Patrick White Lawns outside the National Library of Australia, for the amble around the lake.
A fun element of the day will be the attempt to beat the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as dogs. The current record is 439 people set in the dog-loving UK.
On the day of the walk, there will be entertainment from 9am including live music, stalls, dog activities and merchandise for sale.
