More than 400 Canberra drivers were booked for speeding offences inside ACT school zones this year, police data reveals.

Among them were two drivers caught going more than 45km/h over the speed limit, driving more than double the legal limit in a school zone.
Nearly one in five drivers booked for speeding in ACT school zones this year were caught in Bruce.
Out of the 427 speeding offences outside ACT schools recorded between November 2016 and the end of October this year, 82 of them were due to drivers caught outside schools in the Belconnen suburb.
Franklin was the second highest suburb for drivers speeding in school zones during the 12-month period, with 23 offences, and Narrabundah was close behind with 22 speeding tickets issued.
Other suburbs that made the top 10 were Phillip with 18, Harrison with 15, Holt with 14, Waramanga and Dickson with 12, with Lyneham and Gilmore tied on 11.
Most of the speeding offences during 2017 were for drivers speeding less than 15km/h over the speed limit, making up 256 of all offences.
Out of the two drivers booked for speeding more than 45km/h, one was charged at Aranda, the other at Fyshwick.
Fines for speeding in the ACT range from $279 and one demerit point, to more than $2136 and six demerit points for major offences.
The ACT government made more than $53,000 from speeding offences during the time period from just the top five suburbs alone.
Speeding fines from school zones in Bruce netted the government more than $30,000, with $25,000 of it coming from offences for speeding between 15 and 30km/h over the speed limit.
Fines in Narrabundah were the next highest at just more than $6700, followed by Franklin with $6300, Phillip with $5300 and Harrison with just under $4500 in tickets.
The number of offences during the 12-month period is slightly less than the 438 speeding fines issued during the 2016 school year.
There has been a dramatic drop in the number of speeding offences around ACT school zones in the past few years.
Almost double the number of tickets were handed out in 2014, with 827 Canberra drivers booked during that time.
The figure then dropped to 758 in 2015.
Safety around school zones in the ACT is set to be boosted next year, with a school crossing supervisor program being rolled out for the first time to 23 Canberra schools.
Transport and City Services Minister Meegan Fitzharris said earlier this week that it's hoped the program would reduce traffic around school areas.
"This program will begin in term one next year, to help more kids walk or ride to school," she said.
"Walking or riding to school each day is a simple but effective way for children to get active and be healthier. It also helps reduce congestion around schools, with fewer cars competing at the school drop off and pick up."
