More residents have complained about persistent loud banging noises in roof and wall spaces in the Wayfarer building, following months of concerns and at least one owner temporarily relocating from the 330-apartment tower because of ongoing interruptions to sleep.

Tradesmen fixed the front door of another apartment on Saturday after residents were unable to get into their home on a number of occasions, a problem locksmiths said was caused by movement of the building shifting the doorframe out of place.

Acoustic and vibration investigations are continuing at the Eastern Valley Way building.

Complaints about the noises date back to at least February and are described as like someone banging on a door or the sound of a 20 kilo bag of concrete being dropped on the roof.

Geocon managing director Nick Georgalis said the company had engaged leading experts to find the source of the noises.

Staff are working with a small number of residents and maintain similar issues exist in many large buildings.

"I understand residents' frustration because I feel it myself," Mr Georgalis said.

"But we need to know exactly what's happening and that takes time. We have to properly go through the process of identifying where the noise is coming from, then we need to consult with experts as to the best solution."

Mr Georgalis said he would fix the source of the noises at his own expense, even if the solution is found outside industry warranty periods.

"I am driving this process as quickly as possible and have the best consultants in Australia working on it.

"I will resolve this matter at my expense, because my commitment to delivering a quality product extends beyond statutory timeframes."

The noises have been loud enough to wake residents during the night.

Last month apartment owner Jonathon Peris said the company had been too slow to address the loud noises in his apartment.

Unable to sleep through the night at home, he temporarily relocated to stay with family.

Tenant Ian Walker said loud noises could be heard around the clock inside his top floor apartment, leading to nightly sleep interruptions and poor quality of life since February.

He wrote to Geocon Mr Georgalis in July after complaining to the building manager, the external strata company and his real estate agent.

A structural engineer inspected precast walls and balustrades in October, as well as the building's lift core and roof slab, but said there were no signs of any structural defects or cracking.

The company is working with the Wayfarer body corporate and updating residents on the progress of investigations.

Controlled shut downs of major services have taken place, ruling out noises from hydraulic, fire and mechanical systems and lifts.

Geocon believes the noises are predominantly in the upper levels and in apartments with a north-easterly aspect.

Sound is travelling through the building and more frequently coincides with the level of sun exposure.
