The biggest cause of power outages in the ACT is tree branches falling on to powerlines, says utilities company ActewAGL.

ActewAGL spokesman Leylann Hinch said residents should keep an eye out for trees hanging too close to powerlines with the spring stormy season on its way.
"It's why we ask everyone to keep their and vegetation at least 1.5 metres from lines and poles," he said.
"It they are too close you should never trim them yourself, it can be really dangerous.
"Always have an ActewAGL accredited tree surgeon cut them back for you. They're trained to do it safely."
The other major causes of unplanned power outages were bad weather, equipment failures, damage by third parties and animals, Mr Hinch added.
