The ACT Rural Fire Service is conducting the hazard reduction burn on behalf of the National Capital Authority.
The burn at Yarramundi Grasslands is to reduce fuel load as well as the number of exotic weeds in the area.
The burn is in an area next to Lady Denman Drive, southeast of the ATSI centre.
ACT Health advised people in the area with asthma or other chronic respiratory diseases to avoid exercising and should stay indoors if affected by smoke.
