Forecast wet weather will be a welcome change for our region's firefighters with a 95 per cent chance of showers predicted today.
But it won't last. Clear skies and sunshine are set to arrive on Saturday with temperatures reaching 30 degrees, followed by a cloudier Sunday with a slightly warmer top of 31 degrees.
Get out and about this weekend as rain is forecast again early next week.
Now to the news...
His favourite spot to cool off for 87 years
After 94 years you know what you like and Mervyn Knowles is a long-time lover of Manuka Pool.
In his day, a child's season pass cost 10 shillings and six pence - somewhat less than the $200 paid by Canberra kids in 2017.
Bree Winchester has more on the magic of the place which makes 8am laps such a pleasure.

"They could endanger anyone. We will do anything we can to put them before the courts."
Strong words from ACT Policing's anti-bikie arm investigating a suspicious fire at the Comancheros Fyshwick clubhouse early Thursday morning.

Dopey not to ease drug driving laws first
Criminal lawyers have warned the ACT government against legalising medicinal cannabis without first easing the territory's strict drug-driving laws.
ACT police has taken a hardline on drug divers but the territory's existing drug-driving laws do not exempt people who use cannabis for medical purposes, and also do not account for level of impairment.
Alexandra Back and Megan Gorrey have the details.

$100 million call for more affordable housing
The ACT's peak social services council has put pressure on the government to stump up more for affordable housing.
The move aims to stop development earmarked for affordable housing becoming just another private rental in the hands of the private sector.
