Reproductive medical surgeon and fertility specialist Dr Nicole Sides is the 2016 Telstra ACT Business Woman of the Year.
Dr Sides' boutique clinic,Compass Fertility in Barton, assists those looking to start a family.
It was there she began the Refugee Fertility Assistance Program which offers vulnerable people new to Australia help with pregnancy difficulties or starting a family after the loss of children in war zones.
The theme of maternal health continued when Send Hope Not Flowers co-founder and former Canberra Times journalist Emma Macdonald won the Telstra ACT Business Woman of the Year award winner for purpose and social enterprise.
The five-year-old charity is based on a simple notion: instead of sending flowers for the birth of a new baby, friends and family can donate to a safe birth program to help mothers in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands.
Corinne Wallis of Arrow Facilities Management won the Telstra Business Women's Corporate and Private Award.
Under her leadership, the company was able to achieve more than $1 million in revenue within its first year of trading in the specialty area of national electrical commercial maintenance.
Ms Wallis is a passionate volunteer for Engineers without Borders Australia and works with the ACT chapter's school outreach program to encourage STEM study.
Functional Fitness Australia's Myfanwy Galloway was named Telstra ACT Young Business Woman of the Year.
The former European professional racing cyclist is a co-owner and manager of the fitness company and is passionate about improving people's relationships with their bodies.
At the Mitchell-based gym she oversees a team of 11 coaches and while completing her Bachelors of Business and Professional Communications has worked to support the business through its rapid growth.
There was plenty of excitement, celebration and great style at the event but shone through was each nominee's passion to make a mark in the world, Telstra Business Women's Awards Ambassador and chief marketing officer Joe Pollard said.
"The winners of the 2016 Telstra Australian Capital Territory Business Women's Awards are brilliant, passionate and courageous women who are thriving in their chosen fields," Ms Pollard said.
"Not only do they have the courage to challenge the status quo but they also demonstrate exceptional business acumen and strong leadership skills."
