A man accused of a violent aggravated robbery in Canberra's north allegedly punched his victim as he wielded a knife and threatened "I'm leaving with two of your fingers."

Detailed allegations tendered to the court by police said the alleged victim had been asleep at a friend's apartment in Hawker when he awoke to find a man standing over him armed with a sledgehammer about 5am on September 26.
Manoa Satala Chevalier, 27, was allegedly standing behind the other robber. He allegedly had a pocket knife in his hands, which were covered by striped white socks. Chevalier has not entered pleas to charges relating to the incident, but has denied to police being involved.
The two men spoke and the co-offender is said to have stated: "Don't worry, we won't hit you. We just want the money and the drugs."
ourt documents said the pair began to rifle through the man's bumbag and the pockets of a pair of jeans before the co-offender fled with a debit card.
Chevalier then allegedly began to punch the man in the face with one hand, splitting his lip open, while he held the pocket knife in his other hand and threatened to cut off his fingers.
The man began to fear for his life and believed the defendant would hurt or kill him, court documents said.
He tried to wrest the knife from the defendant's grip but the blade sliced his finger and it began to bleed.
The man, who was growing increasingly fearful, allegedly grabbed the sledgehammer from the table and raised it as if to strike the defendant, before he pushed him backwards and fled to the stairwell.
Police allege the man stumbled and fell on the stairs and looked back to see Chevalier above him. He began to scream for help as the accused kicked him in the face and body.
He allegedly felt a sharp pain in his back, which felt wet, and believed he'd been stabbed.
Documents allege the man screamed as he banged on the doors and windows of neighbouring apartments, leaving a trail of bloodied handprints and blood on the ground.
He looked outside and allegedly saw the defendant leave in a Holden Commodore.
The man phoned police and was taken to hospital for tests, which revealed he had a punctured left lung.
Police later arrested Chevalier at McKellar, but he denied any knowledge of the incident.
Chevalier was charged with aggravated burglary, causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon. He faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday and
did not enter pleas.
Magistrate Glenn Theakston described the alleged incident as "very, very serious" and noted the accused had a history of violent offences.
He refused an application for bail, which had been opposed by the prosecution, saying he was not satisfied strict conditions would mitigate risks Chevalier would reoffend or intimidate the complainant.
The accused was remanded in custody and will return to court later this month.
