Canberrans showed more support for the Greens at the federal election than Australian voters as a whole, the latest Australian Electoral Commission figures show.

Almost 15 per cent of Canberra voters chose the Greens as their first preference in the House of Representatives compared with about 10 per cent of Australians.
Those in the capital were also half as likely to vote for other minor parties and independents.
But the ACT also had fewer voting options than in many other states, and more than 100 staff from the AEC were still counting just fewer than 6000 postal votes in each of Canberra's two electorates.
Independent Andrew Woodman and The Bullet Train For Australia both scored 3.7 per cent of first choices in the electorate of Fenner, while almost 5 per cent of voters in the Canberra electorate chose The Bullet Train over all other parties.
Some Canberrans – including Labor voter Lexi Webster – expressed frustration at the requirement to give any preferences to minor parties and independents on either ballot paper.
"Even just looking at that big white page, if we could just choose one then we wouldn't have to worry about people like Pauline Hanson getting into the Senate," she said.
"Because we had to vote up to six people, I think that is probably why we are in the mess we're in."
Gilmore's Jason Smart, a strong Green supporter, was disappointed his favourite party only won one seat in the Senate but was pleased it was slowly gaining support in the ACT.
The Greens had a 1.5 per cent swing in its favour in the region as of Tuesday afternoon.
But Mr Smart said the names of some other minor parties running were very misleading.
"I was having a massive whinge about this last night," he said.
"When you have to vote for six of them and you can only recognise three, it's a massive guessing game of thinking what does this party even stand for?"
He agreed with the Australian Medical Association's claim that voters could be confused by the anti-vaccine Health Australia Party.
However, Ngunnawal's Fiona Allan wouldn't have the voting system any other way.
"It's all just democracy at work, and you would like to think that people are well-educated before they vote and don't just choose a particular name," she said.
"I would much rather our system than one where you are told who to vote for. It might mean it takes a bit longer to get a result, but we are pretty lucky in Australia."
