Well, their wedding rings have turned up in a safe at a Belconnen vet clinic.
Vet Shannon West found the rings when he recently took over the Belconnen Animal Hospital in Weetangera.
The previous owners had been there for 18 years and knew there was a safe in the building but had lost the combination and never used it.
Dr West went hunting and found the combination written on a piece of paper wedged down behind the safe.
He found some items including the wedding rings which he assumed were held as collateral in lieu of payment, not by the previous owner but someone else back in the history of the place.
"It's not something I would do," he said.
The building, constructed in the early 1970s, had four previous owners.
The two rings have Kevin and Narelle inscribed on them along with the date 6/3/71. There was no last name.
Dr West has had no luck with Births, Deaths and Marriages, which wouldn't disclose any information for privacy reasons. And a search of The Canberra Times' wedding announcements from the that time also came up with nothing matching the couple.
He hopes someone out there can solve the mystery and reunite the rings with their owners.
"That would be pretty awesome," Dr West said.
