Canberra employers are advertising the most lucrative jobs in Australia, new data has shown.
The ACT topped the nation for the highest average advertised salary last month on job-finding website Seek, according to their employment index.
At $86,791, the jobs in the ACT were paying on average $3166 more than in NSW, $6276 more than in Western Australia and $7717 more than in Victoria.
Jobs advertised in Canberra were paying $2973 more than they were at the same time last year.
But while employers might be paying the most, research by another job website has shown Canberra's employees are some of the least happy in Australia.
Job site Indeed found Canberra workers were the most critical of their employers in the nation, based on data from 10 million employee reviews on their Company Pages.
By comparison Melbourne-based workers were found to be the happiest.
Still, it's not all bad for jobseekers in Canberra.
There are 3.5 per cent more roles around than there were in April last year.
According to Seek, the ACT's highest paying industry was the mining, resources and energy sector, with an average advertised salary of $113,125.
The industry with the greatest growth in salary was sport and recreation, up 13.1 per cent on last year to pay on average $64,333.
Australia-wide, science and technology and government and defence were the industries with the strongest growth.
While a relatively small industry, employment ads for science and technology grew by 46 per cent while adverts for government and defence jobs grew by 30 per cent.
