A man accused of killing a Canberra grandfather went to a Belconnen pub the same evening, threatening to kill staff, and ripping open the venue's locked doors to get inside, a court has heard.

The part-owner of the Lighthouse Pub in Belconnen gave evidence in the murder trial of Danny Klobucar, 27, on Thursday morning.
Klobucar is accused of beating Miodrag Gajic, 71, to death at his Phillip unit on New Year's Day in 2014, several days after he tried to purchase cannabis from the older man.
The accused was arrested during a disturbance at the Belconnen pub on the evening of the killing.
Lighthouse part-owner Patrick John Collins told the court that he was with friends in the closed pub on New Year's Day about 8pm, cleaning, having a few beers, and playing cards.
They heard a man, who the Crown alleges was Klobucar, banging on the front glass doors.
Mr Collins went to the doors and told the man to leave.
"I turned around and he was banging on the glass door with his closed fist and then he started headbutting the door," he said.
"Then at that point some of the other guys had heard the noise and they came over."
"He was saying 'this is the fighthouse, and I'm here to fight. Come outside so I can fight you'."
One of the men called police, and Mr Collins grabbed his phone and started video recording.
Klobucar allegedly exposed himself to the men, threatened them, and told them he was going to kill them, the court heard.
"He was pointing us out and gesturing at us through the glass door saying 'I'm gonna get you and I'm gonna kill you'."
Mr Collins went up to the glass doors to capture the numberplate of his Nissan Navara on video.
"At that point, he became enraged, and he ripped [the doors] open," he said.
"So he's ripped the doors open, breaking the locks and cracking the glass."
Klobucar stormed inside, making a "beeline" for one of the men, the court heard.
The men grabbed him, wrestling him to the ground, and using a bar stool to keep him down until the police arrived.
One of the arresting officers also gave evidence on Thursday.
He said Klobucar told police that he hadn't done anything wrong, because he was in the "fightclub".
Police searched his white ute and found a white Puma shoe in the front passenger side footwell. The Crown say that shoe matched a shoeprint left at the scene of the alleged murder.
Klobucar was then taken to the ACT Watch House, where he allegedly called police "baby rapers", among other things, and told them he was going to kill them all.
He was sent to Canberra Hospital's mental health unit following his first court appearance.
Klobucar's defence argues he was not responsible for causing Mr Gajic's death, and the accused wrote a letter to a psychiatrist saying Mr Gajic was already dead when he got to the unit.
He is also relying on a defence of mental impairment.
The trial continues before ACT Supreme Court Justice Hilary Penfold on Friday.
