About 2.15pm, emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle in bushland on the side of Mt Ainslie.
When they arrived they found a white hatchback 100 metres nose-down on a steep section of the mountain and lodged in heavy bush. One man had been trapped inside the car.
Firefighters secured the vehicle to stop it sliding any further while ACT Ambulance paramedics stabilised the patient.
Police and firefighters cleared a path while the patient was loaded onto a spinal board and carried back up the mountain to a waiting ambulance.
Neither ESA nor police were willing to provide any details about the patient's condition.
