Filming of a second season of ABC TV's hit thriller The Code will begin in Canberra this year, along with a new adaption of Helen Garner's award-winning Australian book Joe Cinque's Consolation.

A hit with viewers in 2014, The Code's first six-episode season received $200,000 in funding from Screen ACT's Screen Investment Fund.
The ABC TV and Playmaker Media co-production has been given new funding as part of a special agreement with the government, Screen ACT director Monica Penders said on Monday.
Ms Penders said the productions had been given "significant funding" by the territory government.
The Code's second season will reportedly see brothers Ned and Jessy Banks facing extradition to the United States over top secret national security breaches.
After the first season was sold for broadcast in the US, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France and Denmark, the new episodes will be filmed at various locations around Canberra.
Audiences will see the second installment on ABC TV in 2016.
Starring David Wenham, Lucy Lawless, Adam Garcia and Dan Wyllie, the plot follows the journalist and computer hacker as they unearth sensitive information reaching from Broken Hill to the heart of Australia's federal government.
Created by writer Shelley Birse and director Shawn Seet, the production was also backed by Screen Australia and Screen NSW and went on to win two Australian Writers' Guild awards.
The second season will include more dark panoramic shots of Canberra and see Ned and Jess return to their dangerous adventure in the capital.
The film adaption of Joe Cinque's Consolation will be directed by Sotiris Dounoukos, who won the best international short film at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
The screenplay was co-written by Mr Dounoukos and Matt Rubenstein based on Ms Garner's 2004 story, which follows the trial of an Australian National University law student who was found guilty of killing her boyfriend.
The project has financial support from both Screen Australian and the ACT Government. Filming will begin in mid-2015 and the project will be shot entirely in the ACT.
Ms Penders said substantial production expenditure and dozens of Canberrans in cast and crew positions will bring benefits to Canberra's screen industry and the wider economy.
"ScreenACT is thrilled to announce another exciting slate of projects to be supported by ACT Government production funding," she said in a statement.
"From another season of the fantastic TV series The Code, to the compelling story of Joe Cinque's Consolation, we'll witness some extensive screen activity in the ACT for 2015."
Ms Penders said the associated jobs will give Canberra film and TV professionals experience in areas including lighting, camera, set building, production design and post-production management.
Another major production is also expected to be filmed in Canberra in mid-2015. Secret City, the television adaption of The Marmalade Files by journalists Chris Uhlmann and Steve Lewis will be produced by Matchbox Pictures for Foxtel.
